Lathe
The lathe is used to shape legs, stretchers and stumps.
In ancient times, lathes were powered by an apprentice, a water stream, a steam engine or a treadle. Having no apprentice, stream or steam engine, I use an electric lathe. ![]()
I do not consider the lathe as a power tool - it is the craftsman who, with his gouges resting on his toolrest, sculpts the turning piece of wood. I mainly use skew chisels and roughing out gouges.
