All "Low Back" models have arms, short spindles and carved arm piece. They are also known as "Captain's chairs". They are inspired by the Queen Anne design - symmetry and rigidity are present in all of the chair's aspects. Its blunt arrow legs are typical of Philadelphia turnings.

They were mainly found in corridors and public buildings.
